REHEARSAL NOTES If you haven’t listened to a recording of the Alice Parker yet – or in a while! – now would be a good time to do so. There are layers to this music, we specifically looked at Movement 4 and we haven’t dug down deeply yet, but we will do so. Spend time getting to know the text and notes so we can play with it. Movement 1 Parker, be sure to hold final notes – phrases. Movement 2 should be elegant yet energetic. There should be a buoyancy on longer notes. Movement 4 – crescendo over every note longer than ¼.
Next week we will touch every piece: SA Movement 2 of Parker, TB, Movement 5. Bach 1,3,5. I Am the Voice That Sings and Psalm 61 |
