What a wonderful experience it was singing, once again, in front of an audience. I am so grateful to all who made it possible – too many to name! Please take some time to read the important information included in this C-Notes. There will be more information coming after the first of the year. Have a wonderful, restful, and peaceful holiday! Kudos I hope you will enjoy the following comments from those attending both virtual and in person. I am sure you heard something similar from your friends and family. What a gathering of artists! So beautifully selected, then joined in performance.. Truly a gift to Concord. I must remark that the carols as presented were a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It made my Christmas season. Wanted to let you all know how much I enjoyed the Concord Chorale Concert. Though I wasn’t there in person, I felt very connected to the music, it was truly a lovely experience and a great way to spend Sunday afternoon…I particularly liked Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Pachelbel’s Magnificat, well executed and they sounded great! I just want you to know how much we loved your Christmas Chorale concert. I loved being there in person and it felt very safe…Thank you and the entire group for a job well done. We so enjoyed your concert! The weekend before we had gone to see “Messiah” at Symphony Hall. That was wonderful, but in some ways we enjoyed your concert more because in Symphony Hall you’re so far away from the orchestra and choir. Your concert was wonderful, the music was beautiful, and the intimate setting was really something special. |

Open Sing Our Open Sing is scheduled for January 19, 7 PM, at the Music School, a venue change for our rehearsals that I wanted to share with you as soon as possible. Great care was taken in making this decision, and I wanted you to be aware of the rationale behind it. Below are the details from BJ and the Doc Posse. More information and details will come after Christmas. |

Rehearsal Venue Change We’re going to rehearse at the Music School! Because the space at South Congregational Church is somewhat dark and difficult to hear in, the Board (with the blessing of the Doc Posse) has decided to move our rehearsal venue to the Community Room of the CCMS. The lighting and sound in the Community Room are both a big improvement, which will help to improve the quality and efficiency of our rehearsals. It will feel much smaller than the Sanctuary, of course, but please note the room has a HEPA (high efficiency particulate absorber) filter that cleans the air of the entire room four times an hour. The filters in this apparatus will screen particles even smaller than a COVID virus. This is an excellent safety measure we did not have at the South Church. The Music School feels this room is safe for up to 75 singers, who are, of course, fully vaccinated, masked, and sitting three feet apart. We have set up chairs in the room to confirm this. Zoom rehearsals will continue from this venue. Please feel free to reach out with questions about this change. And remember, Open Sing is Wednesday, January 19th! Be well and have safe holidays. BJ |

Zoom policy for spring It is likely that we will have the same Zoom opportunities for singers that we have had this fall due to the fact that the pandemic has not lessened. The board will meet on January 5th and make a final decision on what that will look like, and we will communicate with you before our first rehearsal on January 19. |

Sad news I am sorry to notify you of long-time bass Wayne Frey’s death this past Friday. His health has been fragile for a while, though he tried to sing both in the virtual choir with us last fall, and then again in Carmina Burana. He died at Concord Hospital, with Michael Leuchtenberger (UU minister and former Chorale member) with him, and his wife and two brothers on Zoom. They talked of his years in the Chorale in those last few hours. He was a kind, gentle, and open-hearted man, and he will be missed. |
